San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli feels guilty, vows to be more cautious – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli has recalled the incident at Le Mans which caused Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa a fractured right collarbone and said he feels guilty about the accident and wants to be more cautious in future.
After the French Grand Prix, there was a long break for Simoncelli to reassess his overtaking act in an aggressive manner. With all the criticism and feedback from paddock, fellow riders and race directions, he regrets the incident occurred between the two
Honda riders.
Simoncelli said, “I am still disappointed with what happened to Dani and I hope that he has recovered from his injury in time for this weekend. I am also disappointed because Honda was unable to celebrate having four bikes in the top four positions at the
French Grand Prix.”
The Italian rider has listened to all the criticism after the accident and has realised that his on-track race tactic was hard on the fellow rider who suffered a fracture just after his recent surgery on his left collarbone.
Simoncelli says that he will be more careful in future to calculate the situation and then act upon it to avoid these types of mishaps.
Simoncelli added, “I know that I'm probably not going to get a standing ovation at Barcelona but I hope that if I am criticised it is done in a civilised manner and not in the way that has happened in other sports in the past.”
Super Sic is now looking forward and wants to move ahead of the Le Mans incident. He feels that the race at Catalunya is very important for the team and they have the potential to perform significantly in the event.
Marco Simoncelli has been called by the race directions at the Catalunya event. The meeting will discuss the Le Mans accident and decide whether Super Sic should be further charged for his act or the penalty was an appropriate decision.
It is also possible that expecting the admission of mistake by Simoncelli is an attempt by him to ease pressure on him before the Catalunya meeting.
