San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli is all geared up to score another podium at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. The Italian rider earned his first ever MotoGP podium at Brno.
After breaking his nought, Simoncelli is more confident to challenge the top rivals in the game. The Italian rider has been fast during the practice sessions and also scored pole seats.
Simoncelli said, “A weight was lifted off my shoulders at Brno with my first ever podium in MotoGP and my 30th podium in all categories. It was a huge source of satisfaction because we have been chasing it since the opening race of the season and didn't
quite manage it for various reasons.”
After his third place finish at Brno, he feels that the pressure to perform for a podium finish is over. His effort at Brno will ease the season ahead and give more margins to perform well.
San Carlo Honda Gresini team manager, Fausto Gresini also expressed his views on the outstanding performance of Super Sic. He claimed that it was a hard task to complete which he did in a safe manner.
Gresini said, “It seemed like an impossible miracle because of the amount of times a podium had slipped through our fingers for one reason or another, so Marco and the team did a fantastic job to not lose faith and continue to believe in their potential.”
Gresini further commented that after his shell is broken, Simoncelli can relax during the race weekends and deliver even better performances in the season ahead.
While considering the layout of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Simoncelli said that his height might create some problem for him on the bike.
Considering the final corner for the infield course at the IMS, it is taken on first gear and heads into a long stretch. His effort is to minimise the problem as much as possible.
