San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli hopeful of success at Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini team rider Macro Simoncelli is looking forward for a podium finish at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, California.
The tenth MotoGP event, the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix kick starts the second half of the 2011 premier class season.
In the last race at Sachsenring, Simoncelli was hampered by the quick wear out of the tyres. It increased the lack of traction and dropped his performance forcing him to finish at the sixth position. In the first half of the race, Super Sic was competitive
with Andrea Dovizioso and toggled places several times.
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider, Marco Simoncelli said, “Fourth place at Sachsenring would have been a different story but I am still satisfied with my performance there and I take a lot of motivation with me to America. It was important for me to keep my
form up even though it was disappointed I couldn't stick the pace for the full thirty laps.”
His last moment mistake also proved nearly fatal when he ran wide on turn 12 and Ben Spies took over the fifth place.
Simoncelli further commented on the last race mishap and said, “Unfortunately I had problems with the degradation of the left side of the rear tyre and I couldn't push as hard at the end of the race as I could for the first half.”
The Italian rider was disappointed with his poor performance but he feels that he can beat the heat at Laguna Seca.
Super Sic likes to race on the American racetrack at California. The Italian rider especially likes the corkscrew turn which is a signature of Laguna Seca. The MotoGP fans are also very highly motivated for the upcoming event. The crowd and the circuit both
compel the riders to perform at their best.
The team and the rider aim to sustain their pace throughout the race and perform durably. The consistency will help them closing the gap from top fast riders in the race and also to improve their championship bid.
