San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli hopes to recover at Mugello – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli will try his best to recover from the Assen accident at the upcoming Gran Premio d’Italia TIM.
The newsmaker Italian has been short of luck despite being careful in the races. Simoncelli’s first big crash was with Dani Pedrosa who was forced to miss three consecutive rounds after Le Mans. Now the latest incident was with Jorge Lorenzo, but luckily,
it did not turn out to be anything serious.
Simoncelli said, “My first reaction when I came into the box after the race, as well as bitterness and disappointment, was that I had been a fool because I could have waited. I made a mistake and it cost me dearly as well as involuntarily taking Lorenzo
down too. I was sorry for him but more than that I am for myself because I had thrown away a big opportunity.”
He admitted that the mishap at Assen was his season’s worst mistake. Following the crash, he learnt a lot and is willing to improve himself. After all the frustration, he is focused for Mugello. The eighth MotoGP round at Italy is his home event and the
locals expect a lot from their homeboy.
He is determined to race well at Mugello and reward his team and fans with a non-incidental race. In addition, he is also hoping to score his first podium of premier class rookie season. It will also help the team to move ahead and forget all the past incidents.
The Italian rider is significantly fast with his Honda Gresini RCV and has proved it several times in the past races of the 2011 season. He also added that he is now fully compatible with his RCV machine and wants to make his mark with it.
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider, Hiroshi Aoyama said, “I tried to enjoy the opportunity to ride the Repsol Honda factory RC212V as best I could but unfortunately with the mixed weather conditions Assen wasn't the ideal place to be riding such a demanding bike.”
Aoyama is pleased with the chance that he received to replace Dani Pedrosa in the Repsol Honda squad. The Japanese will be back in his Honda Gresini livery for the upcoming Italian GP.
