San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Simoncelli says Ducati and Rossi confused with Desmosedici – MotoGP
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli has said that Ducati and Valentino Rossi are in a state of confusion with the further development of Desmosedici GP11.1.
Super Sic feels that after revamping their GP11 thrice in the season, it has put them through a tough time. Every change in the machine has apparently been promising but eventually ended up fruitless.
Marco Simoncelli told Motorcyclenews.com, “Looking from the outside it seems now they are in confusion. They have a lot of things to test and there is no time and they are in a bit of confusion. But the situation in racing can change quickly.”
Considering the previous tests done by Ducati during the ongoing season, it has taken the team to an end point where it seems to totally dump the idea of the Desmosedici.
However, the team is still motivated to test new components. During the season, while testing GP12, Rossi opted to use the 2012 chassis with 800cc power plant, naming it GP11.1.
Then later when the GP11.1 failed to show the expected performance, it was said that the carbon fibre chassis was the main issue.
However, the carbon fibre frame was rebuilt with an aluminium front end to improve the front-end feel, which also did not help. The FTR carbon fibre-aluminium frame did not deliver a decent performance during the Misano event.
Considering the failure of combo-material chassis in GP11.1, the GP12 was rebuilt over a full aluminium Deltabox frame built by FTR.
Simoncelli further added, “I remember at the beginning of 2010 the Honda was not very good in the first test but everybody worked a lot and by the end the season our bike improved a lot. This year we made another good step and now the Honda is the best bike.”
Simoncelli further said that being in a self-disputed situation is not a good state. The team is facing several problems and in the meanwhile running out of time to the next season. Super Sic added it will be a great scene to fight with Rossi for podiums.
