San Carlo Honda Gresini riders Simoncelli, Aoyama complete Mugello test – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini riders Marco Simoncelli and Hiroshi Aoyama completed an important MotoGP test at the Mugello circuit.
Although Super Sic came fifth in the Italian Grand Prix, he came second fastest on the final time sheet of the official test. Despite the fact that he started the race from the first row, he was not successful in his home event.
Simoncelli said, “I am really tired. We worked a lot but it was worth it. It was a very important day especially because in the race we had some problems with rear grip, and today we figured out why, so now we know what to do in similar conditions.”
Just like the Repsol Honda team, Honda Gresini team also tested the new swing arm to improve the traction. The team also tested new suspensions on Simoncelli’s RCV which also provided good results. Their aim was also to test new electronics and develop the
engine braking for stability.
Further testing will be held at Sachsenring, Germany. The new front fork will also be tested during the German race weekend. Simoncelli stood fast with his best shot of 1:47.422 seconds. He completed 83 laps during the test session.
Marco Simoncelli was tired after the long race weekend and following the effort in the official MotoGP test, it was extremely tiring for him but still he was content with his performance.
Hiroshi Aoyama made a 76-lap run on the test day. Just like his teammate, he also got positive results from the test results.
Aoyama said, “It was a very long day but a positive one because we had the opportunity to try different settings. With the changes made, I felt great and I was able to improve on the lap times I did over the weekend. I'm happy and I hope to continue on this
road at Sachsenring.”
Both team riders will be heading for the German Grand Prix for the ninth MotoGP race of the 2011 season which will be held at Sachsenring on July 17, 2011.
