San Carlo Honda Gresini riders Simoncelli, Aoyama hope to continue good form in Japan – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini riders Marco Simoncelli and Hiroshi Aoyama are motivated to deliver a good show at the Grand Prix of Japan, the 15th MotoGP event in 2011.
The round will take place at the Twin Ring Motegi on October 2, 2011.
Simoncelli said, “There is no bitterness over finishing fourth at Aragon even though looking back I know I could have been fighting for the podium. Unfortunately the front tyre wear let me down and even if I hadn't run wide I couldn't have passed Lorenzo
because he was so much more consistent throughout the race.”
The Italian rider, Super Sic is aiming to recuperate from his stance at the recent event held at Motorland Aragon. Although every rider suffered from severe tyre wear but few went exceptional. Simoncelli accepted that Lorenzo was fast to deserve a podium
finish.
However, the Italian rider felt a little unpleasant from his finish at the last Spanish round but he has hopes to take it in a positive way. With some changes in the race setup, Simoncelli is content and will try to do better than his last finish.
Super Sic does not like Motegi circuit due to its certain characteristics. It consists of hard braking sections and short straight drag strips. Still he will try hard to master the circuit and adapt to its demanding riding style.
In the 2010 event, Simoncelli was engaged in a battle with Colin Edwards and finished the race positively. During his 250cc racing era, he scored a win in 2008 from pole position and also managed a pole seat next year in 2009 at the Motegi circuit.
On the other side of the Honda Gresini garage, Hiroshi Aoyama will work hard at his home soil and prove his crucial potential for premier class racing.
Aoyama said, “I was half happy with the race at Aragon – satisfied that I was consistent to the end and able to fight with Rossi and Crutchlow but disappointed with the final result, which could have been much better.”
The positive side for Aoyama at Motorland Aragon was that he found his confidence back aboard his RCV. Let’s see how he fares at the event this time around.
