San Carlo Honda rider Marco Simoncelli will test ride 1000cc RC213V after Japanese GP – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli will test ride the 2012 1000cc Honda RC213V at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit.
Super Sic will test the 2012 machine on the following day of the Japanese Grand Prix.
Earlier in the season, Simoncelli was not allowed to test the prototype for the next season as he was not contracted with Honda Gresini for the 2012 MotoGP season. Since his contract has recently renewed with HRC, now he will participate in the proceedings
for the 1000cc season.
Marco Simoncelli told Motorcyclenews.com, “I will try the bike after the race on Monday and I am very curious. I want to understand what it is like to ride a 1000cc bike and to try and give my opinion to the technicians to try and develop the bike.”
The Italian rider is hopeful that new RC213V will deliver more power and higher torque which will be a great help for a better pace.
Super Sic has also expressed that his physique is a disadvantage as compared to his rivals with short height and less weight.
Super Sic further added, “I hope with more power and more torque that the heavier riders feel much less difference to the smaller riders. The 21-litre fuel rule for me is not a good thing because a lighter rider accelerates more.”
He also discussed the fuel consumption issue regarded with the weight. He added that some tracks have heavy fuel consumptions as Losail and Misano. Therefore, if the rider is lighter then he can use more fuel due to less weight, eventually producing more
power.
While running on lesser throttle to save fuel for more laps, the heavier rider can lose some tenths of a second in each lap. This creates an ongoing time gap from top squad riders.
However, he is optimistic to be more competitive with the RC213V, which he seems might reduce the power difference in comparison to weights.
Simoncelli is pleased to renew his contract with HRC with a medium level of technical support to his factory setup RC213V for 2012.
