San Diego Chargers are number one in fan safety according to NFL - NFL News
San Diego Chargers may not have made it to the playoffs in the previous season but they still have won something so to speak.
The Chargers ended the 2011-12 regular season with an 8-8 record and once again missed out on the playoffs as their drought continues.
However, they won something from the National Football League (NFL) at the end of the season.
According to NFL security teams who visit stadiums during the season randomly and without notification to check up on the safety procedures and security being provided to the thousands of fans, the Chargers have the best review out of all 32 NFL franchise
with regards to fan safety.
According to the league’s chief security officer, Jeffrey Miller the Bolts have gotten the best ratings since 2008.
“The basis of that determination was that the Chargers had demonstrated excellent levels of compliance with NFL Best Practices for Stadium Security on a consistent basis.”
Miller also added that the league continues to refine and improve on its best practices.
“To ensure the safety and security of fans and employees on game day, the NFL continues to evaluate and refine its Best Practices for Stadium Security,”
Chargers executive vice president, A.G Spanos said that fan safety is their biggest concern and they would continue to improve on it every year.
“We want our fans to enjoy the best game-day experience possible, and that means ensuring their safety and enjoyment both at the stadium and on the ride home,”
Now the Chargers just have to actually perform on the field to give their fans something to cheer about in the new season.
The franchise has struggled to reach the playoffs and their last appearance was in 2009 in which they lost in the division round to the New York Jets by a 17-14 margin.
The Bolts boast a brilliant quarterback in Philip Rivers and they will look to build up their roster in the offseason to challenge for a spot in the playoffs in the upcoming 2012-13 campaign.
It is about time that one of the biggest team’s in the NFL reach the postseason and in addition to fan safety awards can also challenge for the Lombardi Trophy.
