San Diego Chargers face Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10 – NFL Preview
Tampa Bay Buccaneers host upbeat San Diego Chargers in Week 10 tie on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida.
Buccaneers (4-4) are in form at the moment after winning three of their last four games. Meanwhile, Chargers (4-4) look forward to continuing their winning momentum after breaking their three-game losing streak with a 31-13 win against Kansas City Chiefs
in Week 9.
Chargers offence is upbeat as it finally got going last week with a fantastic performance from quarterback Philip Rivers.
Rivers has scored 12 touchdowns this season and his performance is getting better and better. Talking about playing against Buccaneers, Rivers said:
“Well they (Tampa Bay) have given up some yards. This week they had a big lead so then Oakland threw it 60 times. When you throw 60 times you hope that you’re going to get some big yards. It’s still a good defence. I think they created some negative plays.”
Wide receiver Malcom Floyd has been a revelation this season, as he has caught 33 passes for 509 yards.
Also, the running game has been has been getting better and better with Ryan Mathews returning to form. He has carried the ball 95 times this season and has covered 421 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Buccaneers offence has also been thriving, thanks to superb performance by their quarterback Josh Freeman.
Freeman has scored 16 touchdowns in eight games this season and has covered a massive 2,047 passing yards.
The running game is in splendid form as rookie running back Doug Martin ran a record-breaking 251 yards and scored four touchdowns in last week’s game against Oakland Raiders. Giving his views about Martin, guard Jeremy Zuttah said:
"Doug's a special player. He's only eight games into his NFL career, so we're all excited to see where he's going to take it. He just keeps getting better every game. He's a fun back to block for. You give him a little bit of a crease and he does a lot
of work.”
Buccaneers defence is also doing well in running defence. They are currently having the best record this season in stopping the run with 77.2 yards allowed per game.
However, their passing defence is the worse in the league as they have allowed an average of 321.1 yards per game.
Chargers defence has a tough assignment this week as they face a strong Buccaneers running offence.
