San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner reacts to reports about his departure – NFL News
Although things are drastically going against San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner, he still insists that he is not focusing on the rumours which declare that he will be fired along with general manager A.J. Smith after the 2012 season.
During press conference on Friday, December 07, 2012, Turner was asked whether he felt his reign as head coach of Chargers was coming to an end. Turner responded:
"It's part of the deal. The one thing I always feel good about, I got here at 5:30 in the morning and there were guys in the weight room, there were guys in the training room, there were guys already in meeting rooms watching tape.”
Rumours are doing the rounds that Chargers owner Dean Spanos has already decided on the faith of both Turner and Smith.
Reports keep coming in the media that Turner will get sacked after the season and end an era during which the team achieved heights of praise as well as bashing of criticism.
Despite going through bunch of questions regarding his future every time, Turner insists that it has not affected his output as well as the performance of his players. Turner went on and said:
"I don't think so. You know, that's what I was trying to refer to. Our staff was here doing cards, preparing for practice when I got here at 5:30 in the morning. It's an outstanding staff, and I think they've done an outstanding job for this football team."
The latter has been the case in recent times. Even though Turner managed to get away with the dismal record Chargers had in the 2011 season, this time there is no chance of a comeback as the team keeps on losing games at regular interval.
There is no doubt that Turner has failed to fulfil the expectations of Spanos for the last two seasons. However, his sacking is not the answer to all the problems that Chargers currently have.
No matter what is the opinion of Turner regarding this matter, it is very likely that he will be shown the door.
