San Diego Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander happy to return on the field – NFL News
It has been a tough year for San Diego Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander. After being released by St. Louis Rams due to injury concerns in the offseason, Alexander is well settled with his new team.
Alexander joined Chargers for a one-year contract last month as starting wide receivers Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal were unavailable due to injuries.
The wide receiver is right away thrown on the field as starter. In last game, Alexander received the ball three times for 62 yards. Talking about his performance on the field, Alexander said:
“Of course, this is just the beginning, I’m still getting used to the playbook and just being on the same page as Philip. Yesterday was a great testament of what’s been going on. We’ve put a lot of hard work into this thing, and I’m looking forward to
just keep moving forward and getting better.”
Alexander has been working very hard on the practice field to get familiarised with the style of quarterback Philip Rivers.
The wide receiver had a hard time keeping up with the notion of remaining team-less. However, he did give proper time to training so that he remained fit.
He took 71% of the snaps in Chargers Week 9 game against Kansas City Chiefs and has the confidence of head coach Norv Turner to play at starting position. Giving his views about Alexander, Turner said:
“Alexander made a couple big plays and showed he’s got some ability to help us, I thought Alexander showed that he’s going to be a guy that’s going to be able to give us some plays. He’s a big, fast, physical guy that can go over the middle and can get deep.”
It is not yet known that how much playing time Alexander will get once Maechem and Royal return to full fitness.
Rams signed Alexander as an undrafted free agent in the 2010 offseason. He played 18 games in his two seasons with Rams in which he received a total of 46 passes for 737 yards and scored three touchdowns.
