San Diego Padres beat Los Angeles Dodgers 6-3 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 4 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
"We're just at the point where we're kind of at the end of our rope after the last few days with guys unavailable in the bullpen, But we have confidence in the guys that are here," manager Don Mattingly said.
Padres played better than their opponents and won in the end. Their entire roster played according to the plan and rattled the Dodgers with style.
Starting pitcher Eric Stults pitched with tremendous pace. He pitched six innings and only received one run. He allowed seven hits and went for one homer as well but overall his performance remained consistent as he helped win the game for the Padres. He struck-out one while his ERA stayed consistent at 2.35.
Dale Thayer pitched and received two runs and three hits on his 3.99 ERA.
Brad Brach also performed well and earned a great victory for his team. He stayed consistent on the mound and pitched with enormous accuracy. He pitched two innings and did not give any run or hit on his 4.18 ERA.
Tom Layne pitched one inning and struck-out three on his 1.80 ERA. On the other hand, the Dodgers' pitchers did not show any fighting spirit and lost the game with bitter humiliation.
Clayton Kershaw started the game for the Dodgers and received one run and five hits. He retired nine batters and received one homer.
"You've got to give a lot of credit to the Padres. They battled me all night and they put some great at-bats together, It's definitely frustrating to lose like that. But at the same time, we've been playing well. Every game has been close, you've just got to keep grinding. It's put up or shut up. We've got to win games no matter what," Kershaw said.
He was the only player in the Dodgers’ starting rotation who showed little resistance while the rest of the players could not play their natural game and lost in the end.
