San Diego Padres’ closer Huston Street might be traded – MLB News
Recently some reports have come in the media which suggest that San Diego Padres are considering trading their pitcher Huston Street.
Former Colorado Rockies and Oakland Athletics, Street has not been playing his best game. He is struggling to keep up the pace with his other teammate pitchers.
His trade speculations are also linked with the Padres’ performance as at the moment they stand at second position in the National League West with 34-53 win-loss record along with .391 winning percentage.
Street commented on the possibility of getting traded and said, “Do I have a preference? Yeah, I have a preference. I want to pitch the ninth. I want to close, I think I’ve proven I can do that. I’m celebrating my first All-Star Game because I’ve done a
good job of it. That being said, it’s not my job to decide."
Street added, “The questions (in the next few weeks) are going to be, 'How will I feel if I get traded?' I don’t really know. I’ve never been traded in the middle of a season, How is my family going to handle it?' We’re going to handle it. We have to.”
The Padres’ management knew the amount of work they needed to do to achieve a certain position in the league when they brought Huston into the roster this year.
However, as the season progressed, Huston’s performance never impressed the top management. Despite achieving consistent 1.13 ERA and 13 saves, Huston has never been able to show the true talent he possesses.
His seven-year career has certainly proved that he is a well balanced player while still he has never been able to see his game as an elite player in the league.
However, his career stats are at the moment suggests that wherever he will be traded, he will somewhat benefit them and will prove a good player.
Padres at the moment are still taking many precautionary measures that can lead to decisions that might not benefit the team in the long run.
In the meanwhile, the Padres are yet to come in the media and officially announce Huston’s trade possibility.
