San Diego Padres crush Atlanta Braves 8-2 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres crushed the Atlanta Braves 8-2 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, August 29 at Petco Park in San Diego.
Padres’ entire roster played well and earned a great victory. Their hitters and pitchers played beautifully as they hammered the Braves with great intensity.
"If you're producing runs, regardless of how you're producing runs, I think you're going to be effective, I feel like this month I've had so many opportunities," Headley said.
Manager Bud Black commented on his team’s performance and said, "A great day. Once the game started, baseball took over, which is what the new owners talked about, They talked about, this is about baseball, this is about the players, this is about the Padres. Our guys played a very good baseball game. The guys have been playing well, they've been playing hard. Against a very good Braves team, Stultsy and our offense and our defense and our bullpen did a nice job."
On the other hand, the Braves’ hitters did not play well and lost with bitter humiliation. Only two players in the Braves batting line-up showed some resistance.
David Ross scored one run and smashed two hits along with a RBI. He did well on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .473.
Dan Uggla scored one run and smashed one hit on his consistent .370 slugging percentage.
Other than these two, no other player from the Braves’ roster showed any decent performance which could have saved the game.
Braves' pitchers also received heavy hits and were hammered by the Padres consistent batting line-up.
Tommy Hanson pitched 4.2 innings and allowed four runs and eight hits. He struck-out three while his ERA rose to 4.45.
Relief pitcher Chad Durbin also could not support his team as he was hammered for two runs and two earned runs. He pitched way-ward and could not strike-out even a single batter on his 3.25 ERA.
Jonny Venters also received three hits and two runs. He struck-out one batter as his ERA remained at 3.55.
