San Diego Padres crush New York Mets 7-3 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres crushed the New York Mets 7-3 in the last and third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 5 at Petco Park in San Diego.
Padres’ played wonderfully and maintained their focus during the entire game which gave no chance to the Mets’ to play their natural fast game.
With this defeat, the Mets not only lost this particular match but they also lost the series 2-1.
"When you homer three times and you have guys on base, it gives you a pretty good opportunity, He was efficient and pretty sharp early, He gave us exactly what we needed, a gutty effort. He knew what he needed to do and he delivered," Padres' manager Bud Black said of his team’s overall performance in which they showed some real courage and true level of commitment.
Mets’ entire roster looked tired on Sunday afternoon. They never showed any fighting spirit and lost in the end. Though their upfront offence could have played much better but it was Padres’ continuous pressure that made them so miserable in all areas of play that they could not match their brilliance.
“Obviously, the command of the fastball was the big difference, I just thought one of the things he was effective with the last two times was locating his fastball down in the zone. (Sunday) he was more in middle of the zone," Mets' manager Terry Collins said and explained some of his team’s losing factors.
Not only their batting line-up but their pitchers also did not play in a fast aggressive style and could not save the game.
The Padres went early into lead and scored early in the very first innings. Their batters played some beautifully hits and consistently progressed into a much stronger position in the third inning.
Padres took clear five runs lead into bottom third while their pitchers held their opposing batters and never gave them any chance to score freely which eventually proved wonderful for San Diego side as they ease past the New York Mets in the last inning.
