San Diego Padres crushed by Houston Astros 0-2 – MLB Update

The San Diego Padres lost to the Houston Astros 0-2 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 16 at Petco Park in San Diego.
Padres despite winning the first series in the second half of the regular season against the Los Angeles Dodgers, could not play well in their home field and lost bitterly.
They could not score even a single run and were eventually humiliated by the Astros who certainly wanted a decent win after losing three straight games from the San Francisco Giants in their first series after the break.
Astros played wonderfully and proved their valour. They never showed any loop-holes during the entire game. Instead they kept their opponents under pressure and comprehensively won in the end.
"Everybody has been talking about what's been going on on the road and so forth, but we just needed to play good baseball, and we did tonight," Astros' manager Brad Mills said.
Starter J.A. Happ played tremendously and earned a great victory for the Astros. His consistent form has given him another win as he pitched 6.1 innings and finished without giving up any runs. He received four hits and no earned runs. Striking-out four, Happ’s ERA also remained consistent at 4.83.
Happ said, "I was trying to work quick and get ahead of those guys  I just wanted to keep the ball down in the zone, and for the most part we were able to do that. I felt like I was definitely hitting the corners pretty good tonight. We did enough tonight to win, We made some great defensive plays, too. That helped."
Happ, whose season’s stats has been receiving appreciation from many baseball experts, is still playing wonderfully and wants more good plays for his team. His current ERA stands consistent at 4.83 along with 7-9 win-loss record, 98 strike-outs and 1.45 WHIP.
On the other hand, the Padres did not play well especially their pitchers could not capitalise on their strengths as they lost against the Astros with bitter humiliation.
Kip Wells was one of the main reasons on Monday night as to why the Padres lost the game. He tossed too many way-ward deliveries and certainly proved disastrous in the end. He pitched 4.1 innings and gave up two runs on three hits.
