San Diego Padres crushed by Texas Rangers 3-7 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres were crushed by Texas Rangers 3-7 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 19 at Petco Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
San Diego from start to finish did not show any fighting spirit and lost with bitter humiliation.
One of the main reasons why the Padres lost this particular game was starter Edinson Volquez’s poor pitching.
He pitched five innings and received six runs, five hits and six earned runs. Though he struck-out six batters, but still his ERA rose to 4.11 which helped the Rangers oust the Padres.
Relief pitcher Brad Brach however played good and tossed good two innings spell. However, he could not do much as the game was already spoiled by the Padres starters.
Brach gave only one run and received four hits.
The Rangers did not rely on their pitching offence to push out the Padres. Their batting lineup played a superb role where they stretched seven runs lead into the seventh while from there onwards, never gave any chance to the Padres to close the gap.
Josh Hamilton made two runs and two RBIs while Adrian Beltre also added two runs and two RBIs in his four at bats.
"We have seen it in spring training," Padres manager Bud Black said about Hamilton. "To see it live in a regular season game, he's an impressive player. He's truly a five-tool player."
"I knew I was going to be tired, After I spent time on the bases, I was literally spent the rest of the game. But it will be better. It took me about three innings to catch my breath. It was cool because I didn't try to do too much with (my swing)," Hamilton
said.
"He's been battling to go out there and have a good game and he finally did it," Washington said.
Experts believe that this recent winning string of the Rangers is a healthy sign and in recent future if things went well, the Rangers will surely get the top qualification spot in the post season.
