San Diego Padres defeat San Francisco Giants 3-1 – MLB Update
San Diego Padres beat San Francisco Giants 3-1 in the rubber outing of the three-game series at the half filled Petco Park in San Diego on Wednesday, September 7 to avoid a series sweep.
Padres’ starter Aaron Harang had some excellent pitching momentum as he held the Giants to just one run over his seven innings. The right-hand hurler allowed only four hits and three walks to prove his class in the majors. He struck-out three batters over
seven innings to record his 13th win of the season. He tossed 63 strikes of 109 pitches and improved his record to 13-5 with a 3.74 ERA.
Harang said, "The guys made some good plays from the first hitter of the game that kind of set the tone. It showed the intensity and excitement level that was going to happen."
Aaron gave his single run on a homer to the Giants rookie player Brett Pill. He was given a first base position in his second Major League game and launched a homer in his first two consecutive games. The 26-year-old Californian engraved his position in
the Majors with two ballistic hits in back-to-back games.
Bruce Bochy was filled with the pleasure and expressed it fully in front of the reporters saying. "He did a great job," Bochy further added. "He gave up the leadoff homer and then he dealt. He keeps grinding out there for us."
Padres' Will Venable hammered a 386-feet long one-run homer to right-field to take his club into a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Padres batters then added one run in the sixth and second in the eighth inning. Jesus Guzman drove in a single to left-field,
allowing Cameron Maybin to score the second run in the sixth inning while Maybin drove in a triple to deep right in the eighth to finalise the score 3-1.
Giants' starter Matt Cain, played a wobbly game as he endorsed two runs in the crucial game. Although he worked seven strike-outs over 105 pitches of seven innings, he lost his tenth game of the season, that dropped his record to 11-10 with a 2.84 ERA.
Giants are leading the season 9-6 and the final series between the clubs will start from September 12.
