San Diego Padres defeat San Francisco Giants 6-4 – MLB Recap
San Diego Padres defeated San Francisco Giants 6-4 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 23 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
"That was faairly typical of what Eric has given us, A wide range of velocities a mix of pitches. I though Huston's stuff was good but he was just a touch rusty. There are a lot of ways to get it done he got it done," Padres' manager Bud Black said.
Padres’ entire roster did well in the field and earned a great victory. They all played as one unit and did not allow their opponents to take control of the game.
Shortstop Everth Cabrera scored two runs and smashed one hit on his four at-bats. He did well on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .332.
Second baseman Logan Forsythe added two runs and smashed one hit on his consistent .407 slugging percentage. He did well on his three at-bats and helped his team oust the Giants.
Along with batters, the Padres' pitchers also did well and earned a great victory for their team.
Eric Stults pitched six innings and received three runs only. He allowed seven hits and maintained his ERA at 2.81. Stults was also able to strike-out four and proved his class in his short spell.
"It's a round number but I don't want to finish there, It means something because I got the ball authenticated and I don't get that every save. There's a certain sense of accomplishment but there's a lot more to get, It's wasn't difficult if I don't walk people, I walked Pence on four pitches,” Huston Street said.
Relief pitcher Dale Thayer pitched his one inning spell with great energy and proved his valour. He remained calm on the mound and maintained his 3.74 ERA.
On the other hand, the Giants' pitchers disappointed with their performances.
Starter Yusmeiro Petit pitched 4.2 innings and received two runs and seven hits. He struck-out one while his ERA rose to 3.86 which proved one of the losing factors for the Giants.
