San Diego Padres ease past Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 – MLB news
San Diego Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on July 23 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
The Padres played wonderfully and showed great team work. Their batters and pitchers played wonderfully and won the game for the Padres.
“There's no doubt there was a struggle, We didn't hit and we didn't pitch. Now you're seeing better offensive outputs. You're seeing two good starts from our (pitchers) the last two nights, and that's what it takes,” San Diego manager Bud Black said after
the game and explained in detail about his team’s win.
Shortstop Everth Cabrera scored one run on one hit. He played well on his five at bats while he managed to maintain his slugging percentage at .389.
“I think I was just kind of grinding through it, I just kept my head up, kept battling trying to get better every time out. It was nice to get that first win in a while,” said Ross, who retired the final nine batters he faced.
Third baseman Chase Headley also played well on the plate. He scored one run on two hits. He played well on his five at bats while he remained consistent on his .365.
Right fielder Will Venable scored two runs on three hits. He played well and ran for one RBI on his five at bats. He hit hard and maintained his slugging percentage at .430.
“I went back out for the fourth and everything was still good; a little swelling on the pinky side, but nothing major, then after the fourth,” Hand said.
Left fielder Mark Kotsay also played very well on his four at bats. He scored one run on three hits while he also added one RBI on his consistent slugging percentage of .252.
Along with batters, the Padres talented pitchers also performed wonderfully and helped their team win an important game of the series.
They all pitched in right areas and proved their valour. Starting pitcher Tyson Ross pitched six innings and allowed one run on two hits. He allowed one earned run and struck out six on 3.35.
