San Diego Padres edge Houston Astros 8-7 – MLB Update

The San Diego Padres edge past Houston Astros 8-7 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, June 25 at Minute Maid Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
This was Padres’ second straight win as they now have a clear and optimistic chance to clean sweep the series as well. Recently, the Padres have implemented a new offensive strategy which is at the moment is proving wonderful for them.
They rotated their pitching with precision which is now giving them smooth results.
In Monday’s game, the Padres’ entire roster played brilliantly and earned a great victory for their franchise.
Carlos Quentin performed superbly as his double in the bottom of the 10th proved the winning factor for the Padres.
"I was taking some decent swings throughout the night, I was more satisfied with those than other swings I've been taking the past couple of games. So I was just going to try to make an adjustment. I was fortunate enough to get a pitch to hit and put a decent swing on it. With him at second, it was big, It put more pressure on them." Quentin said.
Later San Diego manager Bud Black said of Quentin, "Hopefully, two hits tonight, hard line drives up the middle the other way, gets him going again, That was a huge hit."
Overall the game was played at a high pace. Both teams’ batting line-ups also played well as the pitching rotation of Padres and Astros performed average.
Both starters could not show the real power in their fast pitches and tossed too many way-ward deliveries which cost them heavy runs.
Padres’ pitcher Ross Ohlendorf threw 3.2 innings spell and was slammed with eight hits, five runs, five earned runs and two homers. He struck-out only four batters as his ERA rose to 6.59.
On the other hand, Astros' starter Wandy Rodriguez was also decimated for eight hits, five runs, five earned runs and six strike-outs. His 3.52 ERA was comparatively satisfactory, but he gave too many bad deliveries and eventually could not save the game for his team.
