San Diego Padres edge Seattle Mariners 1-0 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres edge past the Seattle Mariners 1-0 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 13 at Safeco Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Jason Marquis played brilliantly for the Padres and pitched 6.1 innings spell with great energy. He received only six hits and never allowed the Mariners to score any run. Maintaining his 1.46 ERA, he stood tall during his spell and eventually earned a great
victory for his team.
"I'm excited about the opportunity. I'm going to come here and try to bring some veteran knowledge, At the same time, I feel I have a lot left in the tank to be a successful major league pitcher." Marquis said with confidence.
Padres’ manager Bud Black said with confidence on his team’s win, "If you were to script out a Jason Marquis game, that's what it would look like, Fastballs both sides of the plate, a good split-fingered pitch, knew how to work his way through a lineup."
On the other hand, the Mariners pitcher Hector Noesi despite pitching with big heart could not save the game for his team. His seven innings’ spell only allowed five hits, one run and one earned run. He also struck-out five and was able to maintain his 5.54
ERA.
"I tried to keep my pitches down 0-2 because, before, I leave pitches up 0-2, Tonight, I throw all my pitches down (with two strikes)." Noesi said.
Though overall the game was played on high pace but still the Padres got more hits than the Mariners and eventually turned their play into a series win.
The first game was already won by the Padres and with this particular win they now clinched the series as well with one game to spare which will be played on Thursday, June 14.
In the meanwhile, some experts believe that these late two straight wins certainly give the Padres a real chance to bounce back into the competition as they currently are in hot waters of being at bottom in the National League West Division. The Padres will
be looking to carry some winning momentum forward and build up some much needed confidence.
