San Diego Padres hammer Atlanta Braves 4-1 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres hammered the Atlanta Braves 4-1 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, August 13 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
Padres played well from start of the game and rattled their opponents with big force which eventually proved wonderful for them as they power past the Braves with a three-run advantage.
Coming into this particular series, the Padres’ level of energy was high. They were coming with a series’ win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and now started with a win against the Braves.
In Monday’s game, the Padres entire roster played terrifically and earned a decent victory. Their hitters and at the same time pitchers played offensively and won in the end. Padres upfront offence did not show any loop holes in their game instead they kept the Braves under pressure and eventually won with style.
“We're slowly improving on a number of things, offensively," said Padres manager Bud Black.
On the other hand, the Braves were reluctant to attack as they lost with bitter humiliation in the end.
"He frustrated us, He got us out of our normal game plan of seeing pitches and working the count a little bit. He really, really was frustrating. We just weren't our normal selves," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said of Padres starter.
Once the Padres went into lead, the Braves could not able to bounce back in the game and lost with big margin.
On the other hand, Braves’ entire starting lineup pitched quite waivered and did not show their true and aggressive game.
Especially Mike Minor disappointed with his pitching as he allowed three runs and nine hits on his 4.93 ERA. He pitched six innings and struck-out three Padres' batters.
"I feel like there was a lot of bad luck tonight and a mixture of good hitting on their part, I feel like I made some quality pitches and just didn't have a good outcome," Minor said
His team-mate and relief pitcher Chad Durbin also played poorly and was hammered with one run, one hit and one earned on his 3.20 ERA.
