San Diego Padres hammered by St. Louis Cardinals 0-4 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres hammered by the St. Louis Cardinals 0-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, May 22 at Busch Stadium, St. Louis in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Adam Wainwright went nine scoreless innings and proved the winning factor for the Cardinals.
"It was a huge sense of relief, A huge sense of feeling blessed. I've worked very hard to get back to where I am. I told Jake (Westbrook) I think it might be the best feeling I've ever had pitching. I've done some things that are pretty fun but I can't remember ever feeling that emotional after a game." Wainwright said with confidence about the perfect game he had.
Wainwright added, "I think all of the emotion came from just knowing it's been over a year since I've felt really locked in like that, I was locked in all night. I knew I could do it.”
Wainwright struck-out nine Padres' batters and maintained his 4.78 ERA with overall career 69-40 win loss record.
On the other hand, Edinson Volquez went with three runs and five hits for his team. The Padres management was not happy with his performance as he was too waivered on the mound and looked tired.
From start to end, the game was dominated by the Cardinals top offence which never gave any loop hole to their opposing team and eventually won the game in style.
With this win, the Cardinals also won the series 2-0 with one game still to play on Wednesday, May 23 at the same venue.
