San Diego Padres humiliate New York Mets 11-5 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres humiliated the New York Mets 11-5 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 24 at Citi Field, New York in 2012 Major League Baseball season and took an early 1-0 advantage in the series.
The Padres literally outclassed Mets in entire nine innings and never gave let their opponents to play them easy while eventually won the game with a bitter hammering of 11-5.
San Diego starter Eric Stults was the main power hub of his team’s offence. He remained calm on the mound and pitched his one of the best spell in total five innings. He gave only one run and struck out two Mets fine batters.
On the other hand, as he left the mound and went into bullpen, the Padres relievers also played a handy role in their team’s win.
"Started raking in the cage and we carried it over out on the field," "no" while trying to contain a smile. I thought all night long the guys had really good at-bats," That was probably, obviously, the best offensive night we had all year." Padres’ manager Bud Black said.
Later Padres catcher Hundley said, “It was very encouraging just to see up and down the lineup to see the quality of at-bats the guys had, Watching guys like Will and Cabby and Chase just battle and grind. ... It's starting to come a little bit."
Despite this loss, the Mets were coming in this game with a good series win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Their consistency level certainly has certainly pushed back the Padres, but still they have a fair chance in this competition to come back and prove their game in order to qualify into the post season.
Currently the Mets are carrying .533 winning percentage with 24- 21 win loss record.
On the other hand, the Padres are far below than Mets’ current position. However, if they continue the same level of thrust into their upcoming games, there will be a huge chance for the Padres to make a comeback into the competition and win a post season spot.
