San Diego Padres lose to Atlanta Braves 0-6 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres lost to Atlanta Braves 0-6 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 14 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
Braves played beautifully and earned a great victory. Their entire roster played as one unit and kept the Padres under pressure. Braves pitchers and hitters performed with tremendous energy and won in the end.
Starter Tim Hudson pitched solid 6.1 innings and allowed two hits and no run on his 3.59 ERA. He looked confident on the mound and struck-out four Padres' batters.
"It's not a huge focus, but I would lie to you if I told you I did not keep up with what they're doing, I keep up with the wild-card teams, as well," Hudson said and somewhat explained about his performance.
His team-mate Jonny Venters also played well and struck-out two batters on his consistent 3.63 ERA.
Closer Craig Kimbrel also played well as he received only one hit and struck-out two batters on his 1.23 ERA.
Braves’ hitters especially Michael Bourn also did well with his two runs and two hits on his four at-bats while his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .428.
On the other hand, the Padres’ played really poor and lost the game with bitter humiliation. They all pitched waivered and proved disastrous for the Padres.
"I saw him early in the Oakland A's days, and that's as good as I've seen him. He was on. No doubt, He was hitting the corners, changing speeds. Got his grounders, This game was all about Hudson," said Padres' manager Bud Black and tried to explain about his team’s performance.
Clayton Richard pitched 6.1 innings and showed very little energy. He allowed five runs and nine hits on his 3.91 ERA. He was only able to strike-out one and smashed for one homer as well.
"A few pitches away from pitching well, I think, You know you have to really be on your game," Richard said.
Relief pitcher Brad Boxberger also hammered with one run and one hit on his 3.46 ERA.
