San Diego Padres lose to Los Angeles Dodgers 3-4 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres lost to Los Angeles Dodgers 3-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, September 3 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Padres’ upfront batting line-up failed to maintain their momentum and lost bitterly in the end. They did not show any fighting spirit and could not save the game.
Only a few senior players performed in the game while the rest of the Padres' roster remained under pressure.
Right fielder Will Venable scored one run and smashed one hit on his two at-bats. He tried to save the game for the Padres, but the Dodgers' offence was determined to not give any loop-holes during the entire game.
Third baseman Chase Headley also tried his best to avoid the defeat as he scored one run and two hits on his consistent slugging percentage.
"I don't feel like I missed with that pitch or that I hung it or anything, I thought I put that pitch exactly where I wanted it -- right on the outside edge of the plate and at his knees, but he just went out there and got it and put a good swing on it,” Gregerson said.
On the other hand, the Dodgers’ batters played much aggressive and won in the end. They proved their game and managed to put in a tremendous performance.
Right fielder Andre Ethier did well for the Dodgers as he scored two runs and two hits on his consistent .472 slugging percentage. He also added an RBI and literally proved one of the winning factors for the Dodgers.
"Other than getting our heart rates up, we're not making it easy on ourselves, That feeling of knowing we can win these games late is being fortified better. It shows all the guys on this team we're not going to roll over,” Andre Ethier said.
Along with hitters, the Dodgers' pitchers also played well and earned a great victory for their team.
Starter Joe Blanton started the game for the Dodgers as he pitched 6.2 innings and received three runs and seven hits on his consistent 4.92 ERA.
