San Diego Padres lose to New York Mets 0-2 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres lost to New York Mets 0-2 in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Sunday, May 27 at Citi Field, New York in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The four-game series was already won by the Mets on Saturday when they outplayed the Padres 9-0 while this game proved an added advantage to their recent level of consistency.
Coming into this particular game, the Mets were carrying extra amount of positive energy and proved this energy into a winning combination as their pitchers held the Padres’ hitting offence and won the game without conceding a run.
Starter R.A. Dickey remained his calm and pitched some 7.1 innings with full confidence. He looked all sharp on the mound and kept the Padres’ batters in deep pressure. In his over seven innings of play, he finished with three hits and struck out ten batters.
"For it to play out like it has in the last few games it's been nice but we're not delusional, We know there's a lot of baseball to be played. It's nice to be able to celebrate some good outings in a row and, hopefully, the next guy out feels an obligation
to keep it where it's at right now, I certainly did after Johan passed the gauntlet. The knuckleball is a funny thing. Overall, I felt pretty good with where it's at." Dickey said in detail.
Later the Mets manager Terry Collins said, "When you play these teams you raise your level, We got to pick our game up.”
On the other hand, the Padres starter Edinson Volquez could not play well for his team as he went hitting with five times and gave two runs along with two earned runs as well.
Though, later all the Padres relief pitchers pitched in accurate areas and finished without conceding any score, but the damage was already done as they lost bitterly in the end.
With this win and series’ triumph against the Padres, the Mets’ are now certainly in great position to tackle their next opponents, the Philadelphia Phillies with more thrust.
