San Diego Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin might get extension, agrees to negotiate – MLB News
San Diego Padres’ outfielder, Cameron Maybin has agreed to negotiate with the management on a contract extension after so many speculations of his new relationship with another potential team in the Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees along with
Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox are front-runner clubs who wanted to sign Maybin.
Meanwhile, some MLB inside sources have confirmed now that the 24-year old Maybin is in a strong position to be given an extension for several more years.
Starting his professional baseball career in 2007 from Detroit Tigers’ platform, Maybin has now established himself as a very thrilling outfielder in the big league. Last season, he went with .264 on hitting average along with 9 home-runs, 40 RBIs and .323
OBP, while his tremendous career hitting average of .255 with 22 homers 85 RBIs and .318 also makes him a true slugger.
That is the main reason why the Padres management still wants his services and is trying to engage talks with him. On the other hand, this is also an ideal situation for Maybin to negotiate with the Padres about a long-term new contract in order to stay
on top with a good Major League team.
Before these new potential talks, many speculations have also roamed in the media as both sides are interested to extend this contract. Somehow, the Padres management was not fully confident on Maybin’s new potential signing.
Now, since their top executives have unveiled their next season’s plan in the winter annual MLB’s meeting last week, they strongly objected as to why Cameron Maybin is not yet re-signed by the management. They explained about his essentiality for the Padres
and also, for the very plan they all constructed for their franchise.
This is another reason why Maybin is now receiving so many offers from the Padres management to get involved in the negotiation process. These talks will certainly bring something positive for both sides if successful.
The San Diego Padres are going to face a tough competition next year as every MLB team is preparing hard to outdo their opponents with every possible means.
