San Diego Padres outfielder Kyle Blanks out for rest of the season – MLB News
The San Diego Padres outfielder Kyle Blanks will be sitting-out the whole season for his serious shoulder torn cartilage surgery leaving many surprised who earlier were stating in the media of his great Spring Training form.
This is the second time in his three-year Major League Baseball experience as he has to sit out the whole competition due to a series procedure.
In 2010, the senior team of San Diego felt a similar kind of shocker when Blanks’ reconstructive surgery on right elbow blown the all hopes of reaching into the post season.
Blanks said, “When I’m trying to apply something in my head to turn it into a physical task, I’m not able to do that, The last day I hit (in L.A.), I came out after my first round, I had to go talk to Hutch (head trainer Todd Hutcheson).”
He added, “The first thing I said was, I’m swinging, but I can’t do what I want to do. I feel like I’m not being allowed to do what I want to do. It’s not the pain. It’s not the soreness. It’s the inability to apply the thought of swinging properly to my body.”
Having three years of Major League experience, Kyle came into the 2012 MLB season with full confidence. He played good role playing game in the recent Spring Training in Arizona and made sure that he must play the entire fresh season. But with this recent season ending surgery, he will not be around from next game onwards.
Before getting out from the competition, Blanks was carrying a .200 hitting average and .333 OBP while his career hitting is remained at .219 along with 20 homers, 63 RBIs and .316 OBP also makes him a good player among his other teammates in the Padres roster.
Some experts also say that Blanks is a very productive player and his recent surgery will hurt the Padres in different aspects of the game. Firstly, the Padres do not have any potential replacement for Blanks and secondly, all the other players are currently playing good baseball as they will feel little reluctant to switch their positions.
