San Diego Padres outshined by Cincinnati Reds 6-7 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres outshined by Cincinnati Reds 6-7 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 31 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Padres’ played under pressure from start of the game and lost in the end. They never showed any fighting spirit and could not stop the Reds’ thrust which rattled them in style with bitter disgrace.
Especially their pitchers did not play well and never seem comfortable on the mound in the entire game.
The Reds’ on the other hand, spotted the loop-holes and then played accordingly which provided them a tremendous victory.
Jason Marquis, who has been playing a balanced game since the start of second half, was hammered with huge hits. Losing his composure early in his spell, Marquis never felt comfortable while pitching his fast deliveries.
The entire Reds’ batting line-up played stupendously against Marquis who just could not find right areas to pitch. He was smashed with seven runs and eight hits while he also gave seven earned runs as well. He struck-out five as his ERA rose to 4.08.
“I wasn't too good early on ... I got some balls up and fell behind, But I tried to stay out there and battle the best that I could. I was trying to make a pitch down and in and left the ball in the middle of the plate,” Marquis said.
Homer Bailey on the other hand, also did not pitch well as he still managed to win the game for the Reds. He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed six runs and six earned runs.
“That hanging pitch to Maybin was the only pitch I made a mistake on, Things just kept piling up, one after another. You're going to have those innings. You're going to have those games," Bailey said.
He added, “That hanging pitch to Maybin was the only pitch I made a mistake on."
Along with pitchers, the Reds’ hitters also played very well and earned a great victory. Left fielder Ryan Ludwick scored one run on two hits while he added four RBIs in the Reds’ win.
