San Diego Padres overthrow San Francisco Giants 6-4 – MLB Recap
San Diego Padres defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-4 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, April 28 at Petco Park in San Diego.
"Can't explain it. Wish I could, Baseball's a game a lot of times that's unpredictable. You never know how a month's going to play out, or let alone a week. It's good to see we were able to come out today and get Vogelsong and Jason (Marquis) did his thing.
Wish I could explain it," manager Bud Black said
Padres batting and pitching lineup played exceptionally well as they rattled the Giants’ during the entire game. Their offensive pitchers gave no chance to the Giants and won the game in style.
With this comfortable win, the Padres also completed the three-run sweep over the Giants. This series certainly showed that the Padres are really working hard and giving no chance to their any opposition to settle down.
"We're definitely playing a lot better baseball right now, Our pitching's been outstanding the last week, maybe more. We've got Chase and Carlos (Quentin) back in the lineup so we're starting to be the team we knew we could be coming out of spring training,"
said right fielder Chris Denorfia, who saved two runs with an impressive diving catch of Andres Torres' fly ball with runners on second and third and two outs in the eighth.
So far their regular series thrashing is going quite smooth and experts believe that the way San Diego side is playing; they have a clear chance to advance into the post season.
On the other hand, In Sunday’s game, the Giants did not look confident as they approached the San Diego’s home field. They could not do much despite their down the order pitchers tried to showed little resilience.
Giants starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong pitched five innings and allowed six runs and eight hits. He also allowed five earned runs and struck out six on his 6.23 ERA. He was also hammered with three homers and put the Giants in difficult position.
Though later the Giants pitchers showed some offensive plays and did not allow any run but it was already too late to bounce back in the game.
