San Diego Padres sign four to Minor League, trade Cory Burns to Texas Rangers - MLB News
San Diego Padres on Wednesday traded relief pitcher Cory Burns to the Texas Rangers. The Padres had designated him to assignment and needed to either release him, trade him or place him on waivers in order to outright him in November.
The San Diego franchise also signed four players for their Minor League System. These players include outfielder Travis Buck, catcher Eddy Rodriguez, right-handed pitchers Jason Ray and Daniel Stange. They have also invited the four to Spring Training.
The 26-year-old Eddy Rodriguez played for two Minor League teams in the Padres’ farm system in 2012. The catcher from Miami, Florida hit a home-run at his first at-bat on his debut against the Cincinnati Reds. He posted a batting average of even .200 with

round of Amateur Draft.
The 28-year-old Jason Ray played for the Tucson Padres in 2012 and had a 1-3 losing record. He also represented the Double-A San Antonia Padres as well. Ray was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 2005 Amateur Draft in the eighth round.
The 25-year-old Cory Burns was drafted out of the University of Arizona in 2009 by the Cleveland Indians in the eighth round of draft. He was traded to the San Diego Padres in December of 2011 for Aaron Cunningham. Burns made his Major League debut in the
later part of 2012 for the Padres posting a 0-1 record with a 5.50 ERA in 17 games during the regular season.
The move means that the Texas Rangers now have 39 names on their 40-man roster. Prior to his debut in the Major League for the Triple-A Tucson and had a 1-2 win-loss record with a 3.14 ERA. He played a total of 66 games for the team. His was in the bullpen
