San Diego Padres surpass Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres surpassed the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 5 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
"When you get a chance to play in these parks, you get a chance to get acclimated to the dimensions and you start to get a gut feeling of where you are," Padres' centre fielder Cameron Maybin said on his team's and his own performance.
He added, “It was a great read off the bat, and I did a good job of getting to a spot to get an opportunity to make a much easier play as opposed to a tougher one. I honestly didn't think it was going to go out when it came off the bat, but fortunately I was blessed with long arms and a little bit of jumping ability."
Padres’ pitchers performed beautifully and earned a great victory. They stood tall against the Dodgers’ powerful offence and won in style.
Clayton Richard pitched 4.2 innings and received only three runs and ten hits. He struck-out one hitter and maintained his ERA at 3.78.
Relief pitcher Nick Vincent pitched 1.1 innings and remained confident on the mound. He did not receive any run or hit while he also maintained his ERA at 2.20.
Closer Brad Boxberger also did well on the mound for his short spell of one inning. He struck-out two while his ERA proved too good for the Padres.
On the hand, the Dodgers’ played poorly and could not save the game. Their hitters and pitchers did not play their natural game and simply could not match the Padres' brilliance.
Aaron Harang pitched five innings and received seven hits on his 3.75 ERA. He was only able to strike-out one while he also proved disastrous for the Dodgers.
Relief pitcher Shawn Tolleson pitched two innings and allowed one run and one hit on his 4.71 ERA. Though Tolleson struck-out three but still his pitching could not provide the Dodgers a proper platform to oust the Padres.
