San Diego Padres surpass Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres surpassed the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, June 9 at Miller Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
San Diego starter and reliever played tremendously well and won a game for their team. Both remained confident and gave their team an opportunity to bounce back in the series.
With this win, the Padres’ are also in position to take away the series. The first game of the series was won by Brewers 9-5.
Reliever Ross Ohlendorf and Andrew Cashner played exceptionally as both gave only two runs in their combined over six innings.
"Obviously going into this game there was no doubt that Ross was going to pitch. We talked about it leading up to it. Ross knew that he was going to be the first guy in. He pitched extremely well. He gave us exactly what we hoped for." Padres’ manager Bud
Black said on his team’s performance in which they played as one unit.
Cashner pitched 2.1 innings and struck-out five potential Brewers’ batters while he received only one run along with two hits and one earned run.
Reliever Ross Ohlendorf however, pitched more innings than Cashner. He remained calm on the mound for 4.1 innings and received only one run along with five hits and one earned run. Striking-out four hitters, he also maintained his balanced ERA of 3.81.
Padres’ first baseman Yonder Alonso was quite jubilant on his teammates’ performance as he said later in the game, "We needed him to step up. He was ready, You could see it in his eyes early in the game. He knew we were going to ride him. He knows what he's
doing. He was pounding the zone and he was working quick. He had a routine and rhythm going early."
On the other hand, Michael Fiers could not play well lost the game for the Brewers. He was waivered from throughout his spell and smashed with 10 hits and gave four important runs. He also gave away four earned runs in his six innings. San Diego will be
looking to carry some winning momentum forward and build up some much needed confidence in their game-play.
