San Diego Padres thrash Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in the first game of their two-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 16 at Petco Park, San Diego in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Third baseman Chase Headley played strong from the Padres and remained calm throughout the game.
Chase Headley went with a tremendous home run along with a double helping his team to a delighted win against the Los Angeles Dodgers who are currently leading the National League West division.
"That was kind of a sore spot for me last year," Headley said with confidence. "I'm by no means a guy that's trying to hit home runs, but I do feel like I'm going to hit more than four homers most years. To come out and get off to a decent start in that
manner, it's nice, but I think more importantly is if you go out there and have good at-bats, for me the home runs are going to come, but the rest of it's going to come as well and that's where I'm trying to focus."
The Padres another player also helped them overwhelmed the Dodgers well established batting lineup. Starter Clayton Richard proved wonderful for his team as he gave only two runs, four hits and two earned runs giving no chance to the Dodgers’ strong offence
to open up a little.
From start of the game, until it was finished in the favour of Padres, the overall game was an equal affair. The Dodgers took the early lead in the very first inning, but in the sixth inning, the Padres were the one who edge their opponents with one run
lead while strengthened it in the seventh inning and eventually took the game away in ninth.
In the meanwhile, the Padres though at bottom, but this recent big win against the division leaders is certainly a morale boosting one and in future it will help certainly them with more significance especially when they will be meeting again the Dodgers
on Thursday.
Currently the Padres are sitting with 14-24 win loss record with the winning percentage of .368.
