San Diego Padres toppled by New York Mets 1-6 – MLB Recap
The San Diego Padres toppled by the New York Mets 1-6 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Friday, 25 May at Citi Field, New York in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Now the series is levelled at 1-1 with two with two more games still to play.
Starter Dillon Gee was the main reason why the Mets’ able to rattle the Padres with ease. He pitched seven innings and allowed only one run and four hits. Striking out nine Padres batters, Gee stood tall against his opposing team’s batting prowess and kept them under pressure and eventually gave his team a very definitive win.
"Huge, It gives me confidence going the rest of the game. I didn't even play outfield in Little League and high school, That's probably the first time at this level. That's what I want to be, is a consistent guy that you know what you're going to get every night out.” Gee said whose performance proved a winning factor for his team and now stands quite comfortable to take the series away as well.
Gee added with more confidence, “Lately I haven't been that guy, and it really gets under my skin, I just feel my mechanics have been all out of whack. My right foot didn't know what my left foot was doing, and I just felt lost."
No player from the Padres’ came forward and gave tough battle to the Mets. They as a team showed some enormous amount of lack in their pitching offence which could not stop the Mets scoring in back to back intervals.
The Mets on the other hand, played quite a sensible game and slowly and steadily put the Padres in trouble where they just could not find the way out and eventually lost the game.
The game was started with huge anticipation by the Mets fans in their home field. Going into lead early into the game in the very first inning, the Mets extended their lead to six runs’ in the fifth and eventually got away with a win in the ninth.
