I was recommended El Callejon but I think that's a little out of the way. We will be in San Deigo 2 miles from Sea World. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Also side note: Any asian/pacific rim restaurants that you recommend? We're looking for original restaurants...

  1. On the southern part of San Diego but just North of Chula Vista is Murrieta's at 5170 Bonita Road in Bonita.  It is across the street from the Bonita golf course.  It is family owned and has the best Mexican food in the whole area.  The waiters are gracious Mexican family owners.  You cant go 5 minutes without your water and ice tea being refreshed.  4 Star service with 2 star prices!  We favor the Enchiladas Rancheras. They also have the best Margaritas in town.  Another place for great Margaritas is Casa de Pico in San Diego "Old Town"  near the airport....bright colored umbrellas, Mexican singing guitarist strolling by the tables. They pride themseves on serving the LARGEST margarita in town.  I'ts  lethal...  : - D

You would have to be extremely unlucky to find any bad mexican food in San Diego; even the really cheap restaurants are really good.  The above recommendations are for atmosphere and food.

  2. Check out Old Town - Old Town Mexican Cafe and Coyote Cafe.

Jasmine is an Asian restaurant that serves yummy dim sum but it's not close to Sea World.

  3. Old Town has a couple of very good, authentic Mexican food restaurants. My favorite is Zocalo which is in the Brigantine family of restaurants.

Also, Casa de Pico in La Mesa. This may be a little out of the way but it is my favorite.  They used to be located in Old Town but moved. :(

  4. The closest restaurants to you would be in old town. I like Casa Guadalajara and Cafe Coyote. Also Asian food, Spicy City on Convoy is delicious. It's about a fifteen minute drive from where you are (are you staying in hotel circle?, if so Convoy is about 5 minutes from you)

  5. Well the best Mexican food is near the Hyatt Manchester in Sandiego..I just forgot. They have the best food ever.

  6. Well Old Town is located pretty close to Sea Word. Its a historical part of San Diego where they have tons of great Mexican places. I would recommend "Casa Guaralajara" Great food, fun vibe and great drinks.

  7. Great call on Mexican place on Bonita Rd/E Street.  As for Asian food, only good place that I have found in my 12 years in San Diego is on the corner of Hornblend and Bayard in Pacific Beach (close to Sea World).  I think that they focus on Mandarin cuisine.
