San Francisco 49ers’ Brandon Jacobs looking forward to playing with Frank Gore – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ newly-acquired running back, Brandon Jacobs, has said that he is looking forward to playing with 49ers’ all-time leading rusher, Frank Gore, who has been playing with the team since start of his professional National Football League
(NFL) career in 2005.
It is pertinent to note here that many observers raised questions on 49ers’s decision to sign Jacobs in presence of Gore. They argued that since Gore is the regular starter, Jacobs is a misfit in the organisation.
However, by the looks of the things, it is assumed that the 49ers are planning to strengthen their offence by bringing some new strategies.
This can certainly be expected from head coach, Jim Harbaugh, who led the team into the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game just in his first year with the team.
Coming into his second year, Harbaugh has plans of improving the team’s offence, which could perfectly complement the team’s sturdy defence.
It is expected that Gore will remain the starter for the team next season, and Jacobs seems to have agreed to it as well. However, he has not ruled out the competition.
Jacobs is going to compete for the starting role and he has asserted that in presence of other running backs, the competition will benefit all the players. He said:
“All that part will work itself out. As far as competing, that will make everyone of us better. It makes us better as a team, it makes us better at our job. I’m looking forward to the opportunity of playing with Frank.”
Meanwhile, 49ers have not yet publicly spoken about their plans for the next season. Jacobs, too, is unaware of the role he will be getting from the team in the next season, but he is looking forward to giving his best shot.
He said:
“My role is going to come off how much I earn. I’m going to earn everything I get.”
Jacobs is the second New York Giants’ player to have joined 49ers this offseason. Earlier, Mario Manningham also signed a two-year contract with them.
Jacobs is pleased to have been reunited with Manningham whose presence will be comforting to the player. Jacobs commented on Mannigham’s presence:
“Knowing he’s here, made it that much more comfortable for me to join the team.”
