San Francisco 49ers’ Brandon Jacobs thinks New York Jets’ Mark Sanchez will be preferred over Tim Tebow
San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs, who has joined the team this offseason after parting ways with the New York Giants, has said that New York Jets will prefer quarterback Mark Sanchez over Tim Tebow.
Although Jacobs has joined the 49ers, he has not forgotten the drama that surrounds the Jets and Giants.
Being the teams representing the same city, Jets and Giants have rivalry on some level. Jets get a lot of media attention and they have remained in the limelight this offseason as well.
Jets acquire the sensational Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos, who later added Peyton Manning to their squad. Tebow was exceptional last year and led the Broncos to the playoffs. His arrival in New York brought all the media attention to the franchise and
even President of the US Barack Obama was compelled to share his views on the Jets’ quarterback situation.
Jacobs is the latest one to share his views on the situation. Although he does not deny the talent Tebow has got, he still favours Sanchez. According to CBSSports.com, he said:
"It's a circus, man. But every year it's like that. Obviously, the Jets have some great players. Bart Scott, [Darrelle] Revis, [Antonio] Cromartie -- they have a good defence, no question about it. But all this stuff surrounding Tebow and Sanchez ... I truly
think it's going to be Sanchez. He's going to be the guy. He's got to be the guy. He's the natural quarterback out of the two. That's just my opinion.”
Meanwhile, he also shared his views on the comparison between Giants and Jets. It was not surprising to hear Jacobs still supporting the Giants over Jets. The running back believes that the Jets can never get past the Giants.
He mentioned that Jets had reached the American Football Conference (AFC) championship game two times in a row but could not win the title. In the next season, he mentioned, the Giants not only reached the National Football Conference (NFC) championship
game, but also won the title. He said:
"That discredits everything as far as the 'Battle of the City.' They can't ever one-up the Giants -- not in my eyesight, not in anyone else's eyesight.”
