San Francisco 49ers’ Brian Jennings ready for OTAs – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ tight end and long snapper, Brian Jennings, is hopeful of extracting all the possible gains out of the organised team activities (OTAs) scheduled to begin from Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Jennings has returned to San Francisco after spending most of the offseason in Arizona with his family.
Although he was on vacations, Jennings did his best to stay in shape and form. He used to work out every morning besides training in his backyard.
Jennings studied his last year’s play and identified his weak areas. He has been training hard to overcome those flaws and expects to further groom his skills during the OTAs.
He said:
“I held a long snapping camp and to prepare for that I built targets and snapped into them in the backyard. I made a few adjustments to work on some of the things I wanted to clean up last year.”
Jennings has been playing for the 49ers since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2000.
With 12 years of experience at his back, Jennings is well aware of the playing conditions in different areas.
He was of the view that the playing conditions in Arizona was not very ideal for him and said that after returning to the team’s facility he now wants to train hard so as to get ready for the training camp and preseason games.
Last year, Jennings was unable to train with his coaches due to the NFL lockout. This time around, however, he has got the opportunity to get in rhythm before the start of mandatory training camp later his summer and preseason games.
He said:
“Last year, we had to learn on the fly. This year, we have a deeper understanding of what to expect when we get into the year. We can really appreciate the nuances of what we’re being asked to do. Now we know what’s going to happen during the year. I think
it’s great. It’s a great opportunity to take the next step in our development.”
He also expressed excitement over being able to train with his teammates and said that this training will be more beneficial than the one he used to do in Arizona.
