San Francisco 49ers’ cornerback, Perrish Cox, who has joined the team last month after missing the last National Football League (NFL) season, has said that he is feeling confident about returning to the league and that he would not let anything hamper is
career progress.
Cox started his professional NFL career with Denver Broncos in 2010, but he was released after playing only one season for the team.
Around three months after his release, Cox was arrested on the charges of sexual assault and faced the possibility of even getting a life term if convicted.
However, a criminal court in Colorado found him not guilty of the charges and he was set free in March 2012.
He could not play the last NFL season and soon after his release, Cox agreed to terms with the 49ers on a two-year deal.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Cox has joined the team’s facility and he is feeling confident about making his return on the field.
He said:
“I feel very confident. The grind didn’t stop, I was always grinding for that day I’d come back in the NFL. And now that I have a chance to do it again, I have so much in me built up. I have to show the world, show all the people what type of person that
I really am. I just feel energised.”
Cox also said that all his teammates are really supportive and they welcomed him with open arms.
He said:
“They welcomed me in with open arms. I’m just thankful to be here personally to have another chance to do what I love doing.”
While playing for the Broncos, Cox played 15 games of the regular season and started nine of them. He made a total of 58 tackles.
His role with the 49ers is not determined yet and the officials have not yet spoken if they are planning to give him more playing time during the next season.
However, it is expected that Cox’s performance will be monitored during the training sessions and the preseason games and if he is able to prove his talent, he might earn a starting role next season.
