San Francisco 49ers RB Brandon Jacobs “ready to play” – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs, who is yet to play a game in the 2012 season owing to an injury, has said that he is ready to play and that the injury is not bothering him anymore.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Jacobs said:
“I’m ready to play. It’s nothing now, it’s all gone now.”
Before this season, Jacobs spent seven years playing for the New York Giants, but his recent association with 49ers is yet to see him performing well.
He managed to take the field during preseason games, but the injury has so far sidelined him from participating in the regular season.
Also, the competition for Jacobs is stiffer in San Francisco than New York because 49ers have a quality running back in Frank Gore.
Realising everything that is mentioned, Jacobs has said that he is eager to play football, especially for the new team. He said:
“This is what I want to do. I play ball for my career, this is my livelihood. Watching my team win and play – especially being part of a new organization, new team – I want to get out there and really be a part of it.”
In his entire career, Jacobs has faced many injuries. He has successfully dealt with them, but the injuries have somewhat affected his performance and playing time.
Jacobs is of the view that the physical nature of this sport results in injuries and that he cannot control them. The running back said:
“That’s the way the sport goes. I can’t control it, you can’t control it, nobody else can control it. You just got to there and take care of yourself the best way you can.”
49ers have won three of their four games this season and since Jacobs has not played any game he is desperate to step on the field. To do so, however, he needs to prove his fitness to the team trainers so he could face tough opponents on the field. He said:
“I definitely want to go out and get hit.”
49ers are going to host Buffalo Bills in Week 5 game and head coach Jim Harbaugh has not confirmed whether Jacobs will be included in the squad for the game.
