San Francisco 49ers’ Randy Moss attends on-field coaching session – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver, Randy Moss, who did not attend the team’s offseason voluntary workout last month, has joined the team for its first on-field coaching session of the season.
Moss did not play any game in the last National Football League (NFL) season as he had announced his retirement from the league. However, he took back the decision of his retirement and made himself available for the teams recently.
49ers gave Moss a one-year contract and it was the first time that he took the field after announcing his retirement.
The veteran receiver did not attend the team’s voluntary workout, but the management seemed unbothered by the absence of the player.
49ers’ head coach, Jim Harbaugh, informed media that he had spoken with Moss and the player would report to the team at the end of the month.
After reporting to the team, Moss did some workout, which apparently was not easy for him. He said after the practice:
"It was eye opening. Today was the first day and we were moving so fast. Today felt like we'd been out here for a week or two."
However, 49ers’ quarterback, Alex Smith, who threw passes to Moss and another receiver, Mario Manningham, thinks that the 35-year-old Moss is still in top form.
Smith said of Moss, who has played 13 seasons in the NFL with four different teams:
“He looks young. He looks fresh.”
Smith added:
“You see him running around and he’s got a big dart board as quarterbacks like to say. He’s got a big target and it really makes you look good.”
49ers are going to start their offseason training activities (OTAs) pretty soon and at the moment the players are not involved in any intense workout.
Smith thinks that it is an ideal time for the new players to get used to of the playing condition and study the team’s playbook before the training starts.
He said:
"They’re starting fresh. I know things are moving fast for them, but it’s a chance for them to hear our verbiage, get in and out of the huddle and get a taste of this before OTAs start.”
