San Francisco 49ers’ Vernon Davis learning from Randy Moss – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ tight end Vernon Davis has spent six seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and the team’s rookies and other youngsters look up to him for motivation, help and guidance.
However, the veteran also has a role model in the camp and when he is in need of help Davis always has an option of going to wide receiver Randy Moss, a 13-year veteran who has joined the team this offseason after sitting out the last season.
In his career, Moss has played for four different teams.
Davis believes that Moss is more like a coach than a player as the latter has plenty of experience. According to the details present on the team’s official website, Davis said of Moss:
“He’s not just a player, he’s a coach.”
Davis added:
“We were out there today and he was coaching me up on some things. And I’ll take it; I’ll take him up on it because he’s been in the game a lot longer than me.”
Meanwhile, Davis also appreciated performance of wide receiver Mario Manningham and running back Brandon Jacobs who were part of New York Giants’ Super Bowl winning squad last season and have recently joined the team.
While saying that Manningham is a great asset for the team, Davis said of Jacobs:
“He can really get it done. If you watch highlights of him in the playoffs and heading into the Super Bowl, he did some wonderful things. I’m very happy to have him a part of our family.”
Furthermore, Davis also spoke of his relations with quarterback Alex Smith, who has been given a contract extension this offseason, and said that he wants to further improve the chemistry with his quarterback so as to yield more productive plays on the field.
49ers’ campaign in the last season ended with a defeat against Giants in the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game, but the 49ers had silenced their critics by qualifying for the playoffs after ending a long drought.
This year, they are considered as one of the Super Bowl contenders and presence of players like Davis, Ross, Manningham, Jacobs and Smith has certainly raised hopes of the team’s fans.
