San Francisco 49ers Vernon Davis wants to be the best tight end ever – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis believes in his dreams and does not give them up. The player wants the others to do the same.
Talking to young football players at Coolidge High School on Friday, June 22, 2012, Davis urged them to believe in dreams and chase them.
He also shared his dream with the aspirants and said that he wants to be the best tight end ever of the National Football League (NFL).
According to WUSA-TV, Davis told the young players:
“I will be the best tight end to ever play this game. I have a vision.”
Davis has been playing with the 49ers since starting his professional NFL career in 2006. He has certainly registered impressive stats, but there is still a long way to go if he wants to be the best tight end ever.
He has been playing for the past few seasons with quarterback Alex Smith, who had an incredible season last year.
Smith is going to be the starting quarterback in the upcoming season and if all goes well, the 49ers are expected to continue with Smith for a few more years.
Davis was asked if it was possible for him to become the best tight end with Smith throwing the ball.
He was of the view that anything is possible and it does not matter for him who throws the ball. It could be Smith or anyone else.
Responding to the questions, he said:
"It can. It doesn't matter. Anything is possible. I say that because ... what can happen? If I don't make it, then I don't make it. It's as simple as that. Ain't nothing nobody can do, ain't nothing nobody can say. But if I do? Then I spoke it into existence."
Davis was also asked about his motivational speech to the young players and that how was he planning on becoming the best tight end in the league. Again, another simple response came. He said:
“Hard work. Having a plan.”
Only time will tell if Davis becomes the best tight end, but his spirit certainly deserves applause, for it can also inspire any young player.
