San Francisco 49ers beat Chicago Bears 32-7 – NFL Week 11 Recap
San Francisco 49ers defeated Chicago Bears, 32-7, in Week 11 game on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Candlestick Park, San Francisco, CA.
It was thought to be an interesting game between the leading teams of National Football Conference (NFC) North and West, but 49ers outclassed Bears by their amazing performance.
It was the day for backup quarterbacks, as both teams’ starting quarterbacks were recovering from concussion. Colin Kaepernick replaced Alex Smith and Jason Campbell replaced Jay Cutler.
Campbell, who is a veteran player, could not stand the great performance by 49ers. He was sacked six times in the game. He scored one touchdown and threw two interceptions and was 14 of 22 for 107 yards.
He said:
"It definitely wasn't our best effort, by no means."
On the other hand, Kaepernick performed really well in his first game as starter. He led the team in an aggressive manner and threw touchdown passes to tight end Vernon Davis, wide receiver Michael Crabtree, and running back Kendall Hunter.
In the beginning of the first quarter, 49ers’ kicker David Akers scored a 32-yard field goal. Later, Kaepernick threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Davis and took the lead to 10-0.
Hunter scored a 14-yard rushing touchdown in second quarter and Akers kicked a 37-yard field goal and took the lead to 20-0.
In third quarter, Kaepernick threw second touchdown pass to Crabtree for 10 yards. At 3:43, Bears made a comeback in the game, when Campbell threw a 13-yard pass to wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who scored the only touchdown for the team.
Akers again kicked a 32-yard field goal in fourth quarter and took the score to 30-7.
Kaepernick’s quarterback rating was 133.1, the best of a rookie in the last five National Football League (NFL) seasons. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
According to him, he was expecting a tough game from Bears. He said:
"It's everything I could've ever wished for. It feels great just to be out there. I think after the first drive I felt really comfortable with what they were doing and what we had in our game plan. I really wasn't too nervous. I've had a lot of time in this
offense. My teammates were really supportive."
49ers’ linebacker Aldon Smith broke the record of most sacks (5.5) in a single game and said of this achievement:
"We were playing our defence, stopping the run and then stopping the pass,I was just playing my game and getting after it."
49ers are 7-2-1 and Bears are 7-3. 49ers will play their next game against New Orleans Saints and Bears against Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, November 25.
