San Francisco 49ers can win NFC West by defeating Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
Although San Francisco 49ers have secured a playoff berth, they are yet to win National Football Conference (NFC) West.
By the looks of the things, 49ers and Seattle Seahawks are contending to get lead in the division, but the 49ers can end this race by defeating the Seahawks in Week 16.
Currently at 10-3-1, 49ers are just a win ahead of Seahawks (9-5). If 49ers win the next game, they will come at 11-3-1, while the Seahawks will go down at 9-6. This will give them the NFC West title, for consecutive seasons. They ended the last regular
season at 13-3 to enter the postseason as NFC West leaders.
However, the challenge is not easy for the 49ers as Seahawks’ offence is in thundering form under rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Seahawks’ last two wins, in which they have scored a total of 108 points, reflect the potential of their offence.
However, the 49ers defence is also a force to reckon with and this is the area where San Francisco can dominate Seattle. But there is something that the 49ers should note.
Even though they managed to defeat one of the most powerful teams of the league, New England Patriots, in Week 15, the Pats did give a troubling time to the 49ers defence in the final quarter as they scored three touchdowns in just 10 minutes.
So such loopholes could be exploited by the Seahawks as well. 49ers have some pretty tough games scheduled at the end of the season, but head coach Jim Harbaugh thinks that it could have positive impact on the team. According to the details present on the
team’s website, he said:
“I think that could be a positive. Like I said, I think the thing that the players were feeling and probably anybody that was watching it was feeling was that there two teams that - two very good teams, two hard hitting teams, two teams that have a lot of
pride in how they play, really came out to see who’s better. And wanted to be better and wanted to win that game and it showed. This game will be the same, I really believe that. We need to prepare."
Winning tough games will give another edge to the 49ers who can carry the momentum into the postseason.
