San Francisco 49ers defensive back Carlos Rogers praises Jim Harbaugh – NFL News
Defensive back Carlos Rogers only has words of appreciation for the coach of San Francisco 49ers Jim Harbaugh as the player thinks that Harbaugh’s style is different, but effective.
Rogers shared his thoughts in a radio programme Mayhem in the AM on 790 The Zone in Atlanta this week.
Rogers had a phenomenal season with 49ers last year and when asked about the experience of playing under Harbaugh, he said:
“It's fun. He's a little crazy. He do things different than, I would say, a normal head coach."
He further explained his stance and said:
"You'll see the guy holding field goals for (David) Akers, taking snaps at quarterback, throwing the ball to the receivers when they're going over their routes, over there talking to DBs like he really knows what's going on, and just having fun throughout
the whole practice. He has fun and he interacts with every position."
Rogers joined 49ers last season on a one-year contract. Last season, he played all the games and compiled 43 tackles and six interceptions.
After a good season last year, he has now been given a contract which will keep him in 49ers’ camp for four more years. This is a big achievement for Rogers.
When Rogers was asked about the offseason training under Harbaugh, he said:
"Long practices, long meetings. We was there from I guess eight in the morning 'til probably eight at night."
Rogers started his career with Washington Redskins in 2005. He played six seasons with Redskins.
Since Harbaugh’s arrival in January 2011, 49ers’ performance has changed drastically.
The 2011 season was believed to be the season of team build-up for 49ers. Instead, it turned out to be an outstanding season for the team finishing 13-3 in the regular season.
It was a commendable turnaround for a team, which was in severe turmoil a few months before the start of the season.
Many regarded Harbaugh’s different style of training to be fuelling the team’s success. Players now have the fire in their belly to perform well and get good result again.
Harbuagh’s unique style of teaching has been getting attention for some time. In January this year, Harbaugh was reported to have shown a film to the players presenting highlights.
A few small clips of honey badger wandering around badlands were sandwiched between the highlights. It seems that this kind of analysis is working for the 49ers.
Harbaugh’s style might look awkward to many, but if the players are taking it well and giving good output, it is the best thing happening for the 49ers.
